Early Signs of Autism

Here are some examples of behavioral traits that show early signs of autism. If your child falls within these examples, please contact us for further information.


Delay in the development of language.
Example: Childs complete vocabulary is less than 50 words.

Restrictive and repetitive toy play.
Example: Child may show very unusual pay patterns with toys, they might show very low interest, imagination with a particular toy, or show repetitive play patterns with a specific toy (showing no improvement).

Will show lack of interest in social games.
Example: Child might show more interest in physical games that require hand contact, rather than games that require no-touch like 'peek-a-boo'.

Shows no interest in other children.
Example: Child may not want to associate with other children. Even the act of watching other children play does not seek any interest.

Does not show adequate response to sounds.
Example: Child does not respond to their name being called. Parents might think that child might be suffering from deafness.

Child is not able to mimic simple movements from parents.
Example: Child does not imitate simple hand gestures or movements.

Child may not share their interests with others.
Example: Child shows limited actions, they might point to a moving car, but not to a game that they want to play. Their show of interest in their surroundings are limited.

Child shows little or no forms of non verbal communication.
Example: Child use of eye contact, hand gestures, facial expressions are very inconsistant. Child does not point their finger when they need or desire.

Child is non responsive towards parents initials actions.
Example: Child shows response on his/her terms. They might not show reaction towards parents initial action.
